Biological weathering refers to the break down or degradation of rock by living organisms. For example, tree roots secrete acid that etches rock, roots also grow between rocks. Lichens grow on rock and the acid they produce breaks down the minerals. You may even consider burrowing creatures to be agents of biological weathering, worms for example.
