Asian Gangs Were Developed in Chicago's Chinatown during the 1870's followed by the Asian migration in order to escape the ruling under the Ching government. During the 1970's the Vietnam War broke out and huge amounts of Vietnamese refugees migrated to America, which made this became more significant. Many Asians feel overwhelmed, frustrated, depressed, and even angry as they try to adjust to living in the U.S. Many times they don't have enough job skills or English fluency to find steady and meaningful work. These youths felt alienated from their parents, family, schools, and ethnic community. They also felt misunderstood, underappreciated, and felt that they were victims of prejudice and discrimination , so they formed gangs as a way to assert their new sense of individualism and personal independence.
