if the denominators are the same, simply add the minuend. so if you got 1/4 + 1/4 = 2/4 and just simplify to get 1/2.
if the denominators are not the same, lets say 1/2 + 1/3, get the LCD of 2 and 3, which is 6.
divide LCD by the denominator and multiply the answer by the minuend. so 6/2 = 3 + 1 = 4. 4 will be the new minuend and the lcd will be the new denominator. then you will get 4/6. Get the other fraction. then add them. then simplify.
gud luck

if ur adding say 3/4 plus 1/3, u multiple each side by the bottom number of the other number, like 3/4 times 3/3 which would make it 9/12 and the the other one 1/3 times 4/4 which would make it 4/12 then just as 9/12 and 4/12.

find the lowest common denominator by multiplying the 2 denom numbers (the bottom numbers) and multiply the top numbers accordingly...then add the top, bring the same on the bottom, and reduce.
