What are the social benefits of homeschooling compared to regular school? I mean how do homeschooled children learn to communicate with other children? Is it healthy for children to be with there parents all the time? When a homeschooled child enters high school how do they attend Prom or play sports?

Hi everyone, my son has had problems in school since the 5th grade., he is now a sophmore in highschool. He was in the public school system, then the catholic school system, now a christian school system, we have ran out of systems!!!
I have considered home schooling, but to be honest, Im not that smart! I dont know if I could do it, and is it also possible to help my son being that I work fulltime? I am also divorced, so it would be my sole responsibilty.
I think he lacks the dedication and commitment to do a program of this type, but he has missed so much school. And when he is there, he is so nervous hes not learning anyway.
How do I go about determining what homeschooling program is the right one for him??? Thanks !!

I am active in church, volunteer at a library, and take semi-private music lessons. I am part of a drama team and a choral group. My homeschooled friends have similar activities, and one of my homeschooled friends is basically the most social person that I know.
I took the ACT test in seventh grade and scored a twenty (higher then a senior I know). I have always been able to keep up with, and often surpass my friends in public school. I love to read and write, and have a much bigger vocabulary then the majority of my friends.
And yet I am often considered deprived, sometimes even by my friends. I am constantly asked "Don't you miss your friends?" and "Why aren't you in school?". It drives me insane.
Who else has this problem, and how do you deal with it?

We have 3 kids that we plan to homeschool, the oldest is 6 and she has been doing very well with the Abeka program. Now we're planning to start with the second one this year, and the problem is that we use the living room as the school room and there are just too many distractions, especially with a 2 year old running around.
We're on Whidbey Island in Washington state, so it is pretty chilly outside, but I have given some thought to using something like an old camping trailer or van parked outside next to the house. I can run electricity out there and have some way to heat it, but I'm wondering what everybody else is doing. The house is just too cramped to set any rooms aside.

I don't have any kids yet, but when I do, I don't want them to go to public school. Is there a way that I, myself, can homeschool them? Is there a process I would have to go through?

i'm thinking of taking independent studies but i'm thinking that if i join an independent studies program the high school diploma i receive from them won't have the same value as a regular high school diploma. where you go to school for a good amount of hours oppose to going to school for just 1-2 hours 2 times a week.

Would it be easier for her if i teach her how to spell small words that she already knows how to say (cat, dog, baby, mom) before i try to teach her the whole alphabet? What are the best ways to teach her colours? How can I be sure that she actually sees the different colours? (my brother and I are both partially colour blind) What would be the best way for me to teach her shapes that would be the easiest way for her to understand?

1.) Make a mnemonic device to help you remember the seven taxonomic levels in order from largest to smallest or from smallest to largest. (10 points)
For example:
King Philip Came Over From Germany Sailing
King= Kingdom (largest group)
Philip= Phylum
Came= Class
Over= Order
From= Family
Germany= Genus
Sailing= Species (smallest group)
(This example goes from largest to smallest).

2.) Where do you see examples of classification used to organize the world around you? Explain.

3.) Why do we need classification systems?

I have no Idea what to do!!!?
Thanks a Bunch Ashley-
