1.) Make a mnemonic device to help you remember the seven taxonomic levels in order from largest to smallest or from smallest to largest. (10 points)
For example:
King Philip Came Over From Germany Sailing
King= Kingdom (largest group)
Philip= Phylum
Came= Class
Over= Order
From= Family
Germany= Genus
Sailing= Species (smallest group)
(This example goes from largest to smallest).

2.) Where do you see examples of classification used to organize the world around you? Explain.

3.) Why do we need classification systems?

I have no Idea what to do!!!?
Thanks a Bunch Ashley-

3) why classification systems?
Because people think in schemas -- that is they structure information into tree-like structures, generally from less specific to more specific
For example:
Living Things
Animals (living things that move - generally)
Dogs (a certain type of animal)
German Shepherd (a specific type of dog)

The natural world is incredibly complex, with millions of species. So scientists need some type of system by which to define and classify everything simply to keep track of things.

2) Supermarkets are a good example. There are different aisles for different products, and sections within each aisle.

1) Good luck on the mnemonic.
The reverse (smallest to largest) is SGFOCPK.

First of all, what are the seven taxonomic levels? If they are the things you listed, just replace the words given with something else, ideally something that will make a sentence that you can easily remember. (If you don't understand what a mnemonic is, it's using the first letter of each work in a list you want to remember and using that letter to create other words that you can more easily remember. Like for music--the lines are EGBDF. Somebody took the letters and used them as the first letters for the words in a sentence: Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge.)

2. Do you understand what classification is? Re-read the information (textbook or whatever it is) that you've been given and maybe check out a dictionary. Then think about what you have seen around you. It'd be hard for me to just provide examples without a better context of what you are looking at. Things such as grades (like grade 1, grade 2) for specific ages or how a department store is organized, things like that might be applicable.

3. This may be a question that is answered in your book or it may be to specifically have you think. Brainstorm! If really stuck, think about the opposite: what would happen if we had NO classification systems?

Answer to question 1 just put the phrases in order from greatest to smallest or vice versa and make up a nuemonic device which is a bunch of phrases beginning with the primary letter of each of the words to your list ex: children Play Chess On Frogs green stomach The opening letters are there to support you consider the other phrases. This illustration can also be funny if you want to make it effortless to bear in mind. Hope it helps. Different examples of classification used to arrange the sector would be the military. Ranks are used to verify authority, talk to any one you realize, who knows whatever concerning the navy or seem it up and in finding all the ranks. You realize like Sargeant, Colonel, ect. Classification programs are wanted for quite a lot of explanations. Like I stated above they are needed to decide authority, the gov might be a further instance. You may have the President, the vice chairman, Secretary of Treasury and many others. Simply do some study and you'll do just nice.

3 In order to determine the largest and smallest type of a particular thing. To organize the world around us.

Hope this helps.
