That's going to depend on which books you want. I hope you do not think that you simply "buy the books" for your grade level or whatever. It doesn't work that way. There are a ton of companies out there who sell a wide variety of books--some traditional-type classroom books, others designed for homeschoolers, others just general books which some people use in their homeschooling.
Some popular homeschooling companies are: A Beka, Bob Jones University, Alpha Omega, The Well Trained Mind (which in turn recommends other books/companies), Saxon, Sonlight... Each company has something different to offer.

My parents always used A Beka books with my sisters and I. They have great materials. Bob Jones also offers material, but I didn't enjoy it as much. I never bought the books, but they usually went to book fairs, or other home schooling parents to borrow and loan books when they didn't have a child in that grade any more. My parents usually kept the books that I used and used them with my younger sisters as well. Except for the History and other subjects that may change pretty often. You can check A Beka out on the web, just google, A Beka.

If you do a search on homeschool curriculums alot will come up, also if you go to HSLDA they have a list of different homeschool recomendations. Just do your research. I use K12 and love it.

Contact the homeschooling associations. They should be able to put you in touch with an organization.

If you go through a program like the American School or Penn Foster, they provide the books. Also, I think if you go through the local school board they provide the books also.
