My math prof has stumped us with this riddle. It is a 6 letter word. Put the 6 letter word around a circle, and going clockwise, each letter should start a 6 letter word. So for instance, if you have the word Tablet, Tablet would be a word, then Ablett would be a word, Bletta would be a word, and so on and so forth.

I'm in my final years of school (I'm now at A Level) and I've kept a clean record - no detentions, suspensions, nada. There is the chance to go to India for four weeks to help the poor and deprived. Sounds great but unfortunately, it involves a biased decision from the senior staff and only a select amount of places.

I'm joining clubs already, being involved with the community and helping out at school - yet this still won't be enough to get me noticed more than the many kiss-ups we seem to have.

So er, any way I can be noticed by these teachers that will ultimately decide whether I go on this trip of a life time or not? I think "trying my best" can only get so far so handy tips will be grateful, thanks. :)

"Lastly, I would like reveal that English is my second language. My parents were both immigrants who spoke minimal English, so I did not speak any English until I was enrolled in elementary school."

Is using "were" for "My parents were both immigrants..." correct? Or should it be "is" since they are still immigrants? Also, should it be "speak" or "spoke"? I am concerned that the "...so I did not speak English until..." will not sound right if I write "My parents are both immigrants who speak minimal English, so I did not speak any English until I was enrolled in elementary school." Any suggestions or changes? Thanks!

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to go to a university for all four years of my college. As I sit here in my senior year of high school, I am completely confused. I still really want to go to a community college but my parents have saved no money for me to go. In Missouri, you can get 2 years free for college at a community college. I don't know what would be better... I feel as thought I would be cheated if I went to a community college for 2 years, but I also dont know if its worth the debt to go to a university. What do you suggest?

I'm currently working at a Sylvan Learning Center, and have mixed feelings about it because for the past six years, I have been either privately tutoring (one- on- one) or teaching whole classrooms. Although I certainly feel more challenged working at Sylvan (3:1 student-teacher ratio, all on different subjects), I am wondering if this kind of environment is helpful for Sylvan "graduates."

If you have completed a lot of hours at Sylvan Learning Center (200+, for example), or have stopped going to Sylvan, I want to know how well the experience benefited you in school, work, etc.

The main issue I see with Sylvan-- and it seems to be the main issue with many-- is the "corporate" aspect of the learning facility. I don't believe school and business should collide any more than school and religion, but perhaps I'm an idealist.

Any information is helpful. Thank you. :-)

So online becomes an option but it seems from reading responses on here that so many people trash those degrees that it's almost a waste of time. I have 10 years professional experience plus I've earned a few professional designations in my industry that are prestigious and carry equal academic success. Should I still go ahead and apply to a brick & mortar MBA program? Or am I just wasting time? I took 1 class in a program a few years and did well, but the school still denied me admission to their program. I don't want to waste my time and money if an online MBA will do me no good.

I have to draft an email and refuse to pay for a charge that was incurred due to another department's mistake. I'd like to phrase it a little more gently than using the word mistake.

Just for reference, the person I am responding to said "So we punish the lab to meet a customer deadline?"

Alright here it goes. I'm a senior in high school, stressing out over colleges. I've driven myself to this sharp pinnacle where I truly believe no college will accept me. Help assuage my mind?

I have around a 3.7 right now, and I've never been below a 3.5. Nearly all my classes are honors except some in my freshman and sophomore year, when I didn't know what was going on (yeah don't ask). I've gotten a 1160 on my SAT, and have taken 2 AP English/Lit classes.

I'm in the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, an internship, am an editor in our school literary magazine, have volunteered for a few years at the Humane Society, and have won several writing/photography awards.

I'm a good writer, so my essay should be alright.

I'm applying for the University of Florida, Florida State University, and several small liberal arts colleges. (This is all instate.)

Do I have any chance, and what could increase my chances?

It is a teachers duty to conduct themselves in a manner that is respectable at all times. If you decide to tote a gun to school how could you possibly promote positivity when you go to work everyday thinking this is the day that you might have to use your pistol. You are coming to work in combat mode not ready to teach. It's time for you to find another job because this is not the job for you anymore. In the process of your irrational thinking you are endangering our childrens lives because what if your pant's or skirt isn't tight enough to hold your pistol and it drops to the floor and go off and shoot someones child in the chest, what if you leave it in your desk and forget to lock it one day. Guns are not a place for school, school is the second safetest place to be in the world with your home considered the most safe. Get yourself another job, school is not a battle ground so you should not be preparing for one. What's your take on this issue?
