The best place to start looking for scholarships is by filling out the FAFSA form between January 1 and early February of your senior year of high school. It will tap into need based scholarships from the school itself along with the campus work study program. Apply for any scholarship or grant program no matter what amount because it does add up in covering the tuition. I will include some other free resources to locate free money to attend college.

First, the high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships and some state grant programs. With the local scholarships, there is a lesser amount of competition for them compared to national scholarship searches.

Second, the local public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even located on the web.

Finally, join several free scholarship search websites. You enter information into a form and it will search for scholarships matching the criteria. There is a scholarship for almost anything.

Good luck!

Both grants and scholarships are great sources of free money that can be used to pay for school expenses. The best thing about them is that you don't have to pay them back! You can read about them here:
