So this is going to be my junior year in 48 hours and I'm taking classes that should give me a 4.3 GPA (with honors chemistry and AP environmental science) and a free period since I swim (though not well enough). Would it be better if I dropped my free period for Honors Physics to get me a 4.4 gpa? Do free periods look bad on your college admissions? Let's just say I get a good score on my SAT. Would it give me a better chance in getting into harvard, stanford, princeton, yale, or MIT? My freshman GPA was 3.9 and 4.0, and sophomore GPA was 3.9 and 4.1. Oh and by the way, I go to a high school where about 20 students from each graduating class get accepted into UC berkeley/cal, so that should be better right? It would help if you've been to any of these schools, but nonetheless, thanks!

I am going to be a HS Senior. GPA 3.89. SAT I - 1720. SAT Bio-E: 680. SAT Math IIC - 710.

I am planning to take city college classes during the school year. I am planning to take Music Appreciation class in the fall semester.

The purpose of this is to help me get ahead in college credits or fulfill the 'GE' requirement according to the University of California. I'm also doing this to show the applicant reviewer that I am active outside of school, and that I am a student who is capable of taking challenges, with this college class as a scenario.

Now my question is, is this worth it? How much does the UC place city college attendance into importance or consideration into the applications?

I'm also a bit mixed up; When I complete the class, can I add it as a class to my HS GPA? How about College creds? Is it one way or the other only? Just wanted to clarify things up

Thank you very much guys. Yahoo Answers has been very helpful to me. Keep it up.

i have recieved my degree and live in new orleans, which badly needs teachers since Katrina. it it has been my dream to teach in the secondary field in history and english. All the districts here will not hire me because i am not certified. the certification process here is a procedure that i have to give 3 years to the system in order to get certified. my financee lives in Georgia and will be a civil engineer in june '08 which will require him and i to move around. Thats why i cannot commit to a three process of certifcation. i just want to get some teaching expericence in my career. any suggestions? i am open to moving to another state to teach for a year. your help is greatly apreicated.

I would like to know the difference between a B.A in e-business and an applied business degree in e-business. This would be very useful to know because I am trying to decide if the applied business degree would be worth the same as a regular degree when finding a job in certain fields such as becoming a business analyst.

I attended a community college for 2 years and earned an AA in liberal arts.

I attended a state university and graduated with bachelors degree in communication studies.

I am graduating from law school and opening my own practice.

Do I hang all 3? or just the bachelors and JD?

I want your opinion.

It seems to me that the AA may make people feel like I am more approachable in a way, but on the other hand, will they think I am less capable b/c I went to a community college first?

BTW- I dont buy that people who went to a community college are less capable...to the contrary, I went to one to save money so that I could later afford law school...smart move! :-)

Dear Office of Student Financial Aid: I am writing to appeal my suspension of federal aid after having difficulty during my fall and summer semesters. As a first time student after being out of school for ten years it was very overwhelming. It was hard being a mother of 7 kids, sharing one car between me and my husband, also working a fulltime job. These are the steps I have taken to ensure my academic success in the future: 1. I have resign from my job in order to concentrate on school. 2. Obtain a tutor for classes I find difficult. Make myself familiar with the tutoring center on campus. 3. Meet with each of my instructors to find out what would make me a better student in their class. 4. Organize my study time. 5. Go to class as scheduled on time. I would like to earn a degree in education. Without financial aid I lack the ability to do this. I am a hard working student and the upcoming semester will prove so. My education is of paramount importance to me. Thank you
