My son is three years old and wants to start preschool. The problem is that most Florida schools don't offer preschool except to special needs students who need an early start. I also can't afford the VPK(voluntary prekindergarten) program that is offered in private daycare and private schools. I am not sure exactly what to do.
I am a stay at home mom but I am also trying to go to college as well. So finiaces are stretched and family has stepped in to watch my children. None of us are sure which course of action we should take. Do you have any suggestions?

I went to WASC and found that kaplan university is accredited by them but the web site that WASC gave was www.kalpan.edu and the web site I was looking at was www.kaplan.com the same symbols and everything but not the accredited site. plus the contact info was different, how can I find out if an online school is trustworthy? I'm all paranoid now!!! even if I get linked directly from WASC I'm not to sure about them now, does anyone know of a real accredited online university?

I actually had some pretty strong opinions about home schooling, but reading some of the questions and answers here have made me feel somewhat less hostile to home schooling, but I cannot shake one of the few experiences I have had with a woman who was home schooled. She actually tried to convince me that mudras - hand positions in yoga - can stop a heart attack. Now, whether she was fed this nonsense as religious dogma or she came to believe it as an adult, this woman was either never taught proper science, never taught critical thinking, or never taught either. How to you both assure that your children are getting a proper science education (I've seen a number of people say that their children are self-taught in this department) and make sure your children can think critically?

I am planning on attending Kansas State University and getting my degree in veterinary medicine. I want to get it here mostly because it is cheaper to attend this school as I am a resident of Kansas, but I do not want to stay in Kansas after receiving my degree. What I would like to know is if a degree from a school in Kansas will look credible to future employers in other states (people often think those of us in Kansas aren't the brightest...)?

thanks in advance!!!! :D

No really, online schools are horrible, the education is a farce, and they are very expensive. Why would anyone really want to go to waste their money on them?

My parents are going to be cutting off the payments for my college. I know this seems a bit crazy, but they do not support me as a person, there is a lot of family problems going on, and I need to break away from this. They are always threatening to pull me out of college and how I will never succeed, and they are just always trying to bring me down. I can't live with this connection anymore.

I am a great student, I just finished my first year with a 3.4 GPA. I am in school for graphic design in New York City, and just recently even opened my own website for my work.

What can I do, where do I look? I am trying to find some kind of financial aid.

FAFSA seems best, but they require information about your parents, I really want to cut off all ties with my family and do this independently.

Anyone have any advice? Thank you.

I'm home schooling my middle child and I give a lot of time and effort into educating and teaching him my values and beliefs.

I don't mean for anyone to get offended but how can you home school successfully if you work full time? If you work full time how you can home school your child without having that child feel "abandon" by you.

Sure, they learn to be independent and self-teach themselves but what about the fact of dealing with their emotions?

Some home schooling moms that I know worked full time and some of their children suffered from it. Some of them had behavioral problems and felt "left out" by their parents being so busy and tired all the time.

Where would you find the time to be there for your child if your busy working your job?

As a home schooling mom I ask myself that question.
