Imagine this...you're taking the cahsee with all those stupid questions and stupid answers and you're in a real hurry to finish coz u think it's stupid...lol. then they ask you to write something...they ask you to write a narrative about your encounter with an object building or place with character...now wen they say that are they asking for a story or essay?

then after I wrote my story...I saw at the very bottom of the page, like their guideline thing...that there has to be an introduction, body, and conclusion. couldn't that just mean ur "narrative" (which i thought meant story) has to have a beginning middle and end?!

ppl keep saying it's so easy and I feel like I made a dumb mistake and I'd have to live with shame all my life coz I FAILED the cahsee...is it really that easy in all highschools?

Specifically I'm wondering about NYC schools, since I don't know about other places.

When my dad was in school in Michigan in the 60s, they had a huge pool, and a school band, a school orchestra, a million sports, shop class, a great theater department, all this great stuff. It was a public school.

My mom's school in Long Island was great too. They had three choices of languages (Spanish, French and German), gym class every day and they did stuff like archery, they had a well-stocked lab, a great music department (in both my parents' schools you could just walk in to the band room and rent a French horn, and learn to play it and be in a group) and all kinds of great stuff.

The schools in my area definitely don't have any of that. Hell, if I were in the system my books would be ten years old, kids would be having sex in the hallways, no way in hell there's a band or orchestra, gym once a week, no foreign language or just Spanish...

Aren't we paying the same amount of taxes?

A teacher is leaving to have her 1st baby, and I have the lucky job of making her a card from the whole school. Each class has drawn/written little things - but I would really like an original way of presenting all this - rather than just a card.
I did think of a book - eg 10 things you should know about having a baby - and getting each class to do a section - but even that is an idea that I am not too enthralled with.
I know lots of you out there have fantastic ideas - please help!

Subject: FW: Manure

Manure...A True Story

Manure: In the 16th and 17th centuries, everything had to be transported by ship and it was also before commercial fertilizer's invention, so large shipments of manure were common.

It was shipped dry, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than when wet, but once water (at sea) hit it, it not only became heavier, but the process of fermentation began again, of which a by product is methane
gas. As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles you can see what could (and did) happen.

Methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came below at night with a lantern, BOOOOM!

Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was determined just what was happening.

After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the term "Ship High In Transit" on them, which meant for the sailors to stow it high enough off the lower decks so that any water that came into the
hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane. Thus evolved the term "S.H.I.T" , (Ship High In Transport) which has come down through the centuries and is in use to this very
day. Y'all probably did not know the true history of this word Neither did I.
