A teacher is leaving to have her 1st baby, and I have the lucky job of making her a card from the whole school. Each class has drawn/written little things - but I would really like an original way of presenting all this - rather than just a card.
I did think of a book - eg 10 things you should know about having a baby - and getting each class to do a section - but even that is an idea that I am not too enthralled with.
I know lots of you out there have fantastic ideas - please help!

Why not put together a scrapbook for her. Have each class put the things they have drawn or written together on one sheet (Or several if necessary) and then they can put a page together of cute thoughts about babies. This will be really cute if you have younger kids, they have interesting things to say. You could also have the staff all put together a page of their thoughts and tips as well. Anyway all you will have to do is bind it together, ergo less work for you and still a great and original "card" from the school. I do some scrap booking and would love to offer some more tips if you decide to use this idea.Just shoot me an email if you need help. katiejay79@yahoo.com (I am a teacher as well.)

Get each class to say what they think a mother should know (and that is different to what having a baby is about!) - you may get some interesting ideas! (my daughter - aged 8 - thinks that being a mother is letting her stay up late sometimes and making cakes with her; my son - aged 14 - thinks that a mother does nothing but nag about homework!) If you do that for every class, your friend will have a good idea of exactly what goes into being a perfect mother right through the years and directly from the childrens' mouths (and what to expect!)

You do not say what sort of school you are talking about but if it is a primary school, the Foundation could do handprints on the front cover. Then laminate the front and back and ring bind it.

good luck!

My daughters school had all the pupils do a self portrait then with the aid of a computer had them all put onto a poster sized card. Then they had a non-uniform day and asked all the children to donate 50pence and gave it to the teacher to buy something nice for herself and the new baby. They presented it to her in a special assembly.Plus it made all the kids feel as though they were contributing something without being expensive.

taking part in with your toddler might look like each and every exciting and video games -- shaking rattles, squeaking plush animals, and observing as your baby tries his overweight hand at rolling a ball. yet make no mistake: What looks like downtime is artwork to babies, and toys are many times the kit for buying the pastime achieved. Toys that require stability and coordination, at the same time with skates, scooters and motorcycles, prepare toddlers new skills, inspire the form of self-self assurance and fulfill their pastime in exploration. pick activities kit that has a strengthen-with-me characteristic, going from beginner to greater, so toddlers have the possibility to comprehend skills at their very own p.c... The beginner mode will supply toddlers that extra advance of self assurance they choose whilst discovering a sparkling ability.

Have the kids think of baby names or something like that is a idea, or have the kids give advice on being a mum a line like "my mummy told me not to..." but i think what you have in mind is a lovely idea, we just had a whip round and bought in things like packets of nappies etc and put them all in a baby bath.

I think a cot shaped card would be cute, with a picture of each child (self drawn of course!) Peeping through the bars, and a message from each of them on the back of their picture.

Will make her glad she is only having the one!!
