Well... I would recommend study... but do so prior to going to bed... recent studies have shown that the brain will re-enact the events of the day while you are sleeping... furthermore... it uses sleep to "unwind" so to speak... or to lessen the weight of the neurons... while awake... neurons in the brain will gain wieght... this happens everytime you learn something... sleep is a way for the brain to catagorize this and reset itself for another day... if you study prior to going to bed... then it is fresh on your mind and first to get processed...
also... remember that you don't generally want to cram in studies... many people do not have the attention span to retain much knowledge after too long of a period (this period ranges from 20 minutes to 45 minutes)...
basically... other than the obvious of apply yourself... I would suggest that you get involved in extra-curricular things... football, quiz teams, etc... even after school things on weekends look good (like volunteering at a soup kitchen)...
If you have B's... that is not a bad thing... the bad thing is when you have mostly D's and some C's...
Also... you don't want to fall into a comfort zone... meaning... don't lessen the application of yourself later in High School... many people enter high school making the grade... and leave with poor grades... especially in their senior years...
bottom line... apply yourself... be persistant.. and don't lose sight of your goal...

some say that high school is supposed to be the best time of a teens life. it may be true in some cases depending on how you spend your time during your high school years. high school is all about preparing one for college in the future but to also have some fun for the students. for example, clubs and football games, which are the funnest to go to, are part of being in high school. my advice to you is to have fun, but to also keep your nose buried in books when you need to. its crucial that you start well during your first year, because when your teachers see that you are doing well in your classes they will most likely recommend you to a advanced class. this being shown on your transcript to college will be of great help and may get you to a very good school. be sure to study hard, and dont to forget to have some fun. know what is right opposed to wrong, and your high school years will serve the best of your life! have fun!

Colleges love extracurriculars! Do sports, clubs etc. and be teachers pet so they can write you really good letters of reccomendations. It worked for me and now I'm on my way to pretty much one of several possible law schools of my choosing. Good luck and B's are fine. It shows you have somewhat of a life and don't spend every waking moment in the library.
