It just seems that everytime someone asks a question there is always someone ready to correct it. I understand with really bad mistakes but I sometimes feel a little sorry for the people who aren't native speakers or who make minor errors.

i just receieved a 55 on my midterm in my oceanography class yesterday. we have one more exam in may. those two grades will be combined and averaged to make our grade for the semester. i think its bullcrap how we only get two grades this semester but thats besides the point.

if i get atleast a 90 on our final, which will cover everything from now until the end of april, i will get a 72 in that class. i believe i can get higher than a 90 on the next test if i motivate myself.

what would you guys do?

My son is in the 2nd grade. He has aspergers. I have been trying to get the school to test him for an IEP. Unfortunately, my son is average to above average in his grades. Because of the Aspergers and the ADHD he is brillant when it comes to the academics, but he lacks in social skills. He has no friends, he is always getting into trouble, The school calls me once a week if not more to come pick him up because his behavior is out of control, he shows a lot of disrespect. He has a 504 but I feel like that isn't solving the problem. It is just making acommodations. I have talked to the school but they are not willing to give him an IEP because he is above normal academically. I really feel like my son can do so much more if he had an IEP. I don't know what else to do. We live in Las Vegas. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I am a successful professional but was an utter failure in school. I now have two kids that are approaching school age. For my own learning I can be very intense about learning a topic when I want to but I don't do well on someone else's structured curriculum.

I would love to instill in my children a passion for learning and I would hate to see them begin to see learning as work. I am tempted by articles I have read about allowing children to pursue topics that interest them at their own pace.

Do you have positive or negative experiences with this kind of education? What would you recommend I read/do to learn more?

In this question, they say 30 - x = 17 and x + y = 23. So, therefore, we can say that x = 13 and y = 10. From that, when I solve it, the above equation x² - 5x - 4 = 169 - 165 - 4 = 0 But the answer says that it's x² - 5x - 4 = 169 - 165 - 4 = 100... which means your answer is the choice y². How is that even possible?!

I have thought many times about changing my career to become a teacher. It would be a large pay cut and very different then my current work experience.
