I have thought many times about changing my career to become a teacher. It would be a large pay cut and very different then my current work experience. I'd love to teach kids about computer programming (which is what I've worked in for over 6 years), but before I go on a new career path I'd like to actually to make sure this is what I want to do. Can anyone recommend ways to volunteer or teach part-time?

You could always subsitute teach. Also school districts are always looking for people out in the community to help out. You would have to go to the main headquarters of the school district you are interested in and get an application for volunteering or subbing because you have to get a background check.

Be really SURE before changing careers...teaching is a HUGE adjustment from most other jobs. I would recommend substitute teaching before putting in a lot of time and money into education for a teaching certificate. Be sure to sub as much as possible in the grade level and subject that you are interested in.
