I have been working on this English project all day. The project involves a looooong list of literary devices. I have to find a quote in the book, "Their Eyes Were Watching God", by Zora Neale Hurston, that is an example of each device. I'm almost done with the project, but I'm having trouble finding two quotes from the book that are examples of Onomatopoeia and Irony.

I have looked, and looked, and looked, and re-read and re-read. I can not find any use of onomatopoeia or irony in the book, specifically in the first ten chapters.

As a final resort, I come here to ask. Can anyone help me? Or could you simply point me in the right direction. I just need help with onomatopoeia and irony, but it has to come within the first ten chapters of the book. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I write reports on various topics of interest. I am told that my writing is easy to follow and my topics well researched. The topics available to write about, however, are widely varied to the extent of overwhelm. I decided to write my next expose on a topic selected by my friends at Yahoo questions. Since I plan to charge a small fee for my report, I need to know what topic would be of interest to the widest variety of readers. Suggestions? Please keep it clean. I'm a family oriented writer.

Report 1:
We all use furniture every day and are very important. Furniture was just as important in the 1800’s as it is today. Even though the U.S. was separate from England they still kept some European traditions, one of the traditions was furniture. Most furniture was based on European neo-classical furniture, but was made an American variation. This type used straight lines, thin wood, and geometric shapes. Neo-classical furniture renewed interest in classics from Grease and Rome and was for rich and high-class citizens. Most people made there own furniture because they could get a more affordable version of expensive furniture.
In history people gave names to certain types of different styles. Some were named after people and others where named after time periods. In the 1800’s furniture began to change along with the developing country. In the 1700’s furniture reflected what rich people had in their homes, but in the early 1800’s furniture began to reflect what ordinary people had in there homes. Furniture expo’s were beginning to be held so people could get new ideas and new designs and styles were created. Furniture began to fall into 2 different categories: historical styles and original. In B.A.M.F. our furniture store will be located in Scottsylvania.

I really want to major in creative writing and I found a school that offers English as a major on a writing track. Does this mean that it would count as a writing major? They offer english as a literature, teaching or writing major and I wanted to be sure it would could as being a writing major since they offer no programs in creative writing itself only creative writing through their english/writing program?
