I really want to major in creative writing and I found a school that offers English as a major on a writing track. Does this mean that it would count as a writing major? They offer english as a literature, teaching or writing major and I wanted to be sure it would could as being a writing major since they offer no programs in creative writing itself only creative writing through their english/writing program?

Almost every single college and university in the US offers creative writing as one "track" of several within their department of English.

Other "tracks" are usually English literature and technical writing.

In almost every case, your transcript will identify you as an English/Creative Writing major.

If you want to do well in creative writing, make sure whatever you are studying will teach you a fair bit of literature.

Speaking from experience, you learn a lot more about writing by reading and studying the writing of others than you do discussing the nuts and bolts of writing fiction.
