There have been a zillion questions on Yahoo about majors and medical school. So you can check them out above where it says 'search for questions."
Here's the basic scoop, though:
In high school take as much chemistry and math as you can. All the way to calculus and AP chem.
Get into the best college you can get into. Top colleges have a higher % of their grads accepted into med school. In college you can major in any major you want, as long as you complete the pre-req courses needed to apply to med school. That would be chemistry, biology, organic chemistry, biochemistry, physics with calculus. Get A's in those tough courses. Take the MCATS (like SATs only harder) then apply to med school. Half the very good students who apply will get in.
In medical school, spend 4 years studying general medicine. Then apply for a residency in surgery. After about 5 years or more take the very hard surgical boards. If you pass, then you are a surgeon.
So, if you are 19 when you graduate from HS, you will be a surgeon when you are about 32 or 33.
Tough isnt it? Yes, well if you want a license to chop living bodies open, you have to be the best!
