Her name is Regina, and she needs a middle and last name still. I can't seem to find one that I really like and that flows well. Regina is kind of a malicious character. She's two-faced and backstabbing. But sometimes she can be uber-sweet. Can someone help me please?

Like for example most cuss words are translated to something bad (since there are children on this site I will refer to them by there first letter)

a word means donkey but we use it to say butt.
b word means female dog we use it call some one a controlling, crazy, or annoying person or to try and compliment someon.
hoe means garden tool but we changed it to mean a woman who goes out with handfuls of men.
gay means happy but we use it as homo

Why do we change the meaning of words?

I got my bachelor's degree about 10 years ago, and I'm now interested in going to grad school for political science. My undergrad GPA is far from stellar (sub 3.0), but I have strong work experience in the poltical world (communications director for a congressional campaign and several years working with a Lt. Governor).

So with a poor gpa and limited relationships with my undergrad professors (it was 10 years ago, very few will remember me), how should I go about applying for grad school?

I know the top schools are out of the question. But is there a school out there that might give me a shot?

I teach in one of the most impoverished parts of the United States. Sometimes it is appalling how similar to a third world country this place is. Unfortunately, the education system is equally as impoverished. I struggle to teach children who are 16 to 18 years old and cannot read and write, let alone add and subtract correctly (I teach high school mathematics). They have been socially promoted over and over again. I have maybe 10 students out of 120 that can read above a third or fourth grade reading level as high school students.

One of my biggest issues is that these children have never been allowed to think. They've been taught trick after trick to pass a state test (which they BARELY pass) but they don't understand what they're doing. They look constantly for the shortcut around understanding. I am looking for ideas and activities I can use to start to encourage my students to think for themselves instead of depending on me to always give them the answer or the shortcut
