I've always been curious about this. Why is it Americans use "The Fall" or "Fall" to represent Autumn season? I know its probably because the leaves fall from the trees, but why don't they just call it Autumn like we do in the UK? Has it got something to do with American Independance?

It's not a term that you hear often, but if you have lots of legal paperwork and you have to make certain it is researched and done properly, then you would hire this person to make sure all the i's are dotted and all the t's are crossed. Does anyone know what term I am talking about?? Again, it is not a common term.

I originally thought it was from Kubrick's "The Shining," however I just watched "The Bridge on the River Kwai" and the phrase is used in that movie as well. Maybe it is an old addage? If so, from where?

Anybody else really not like their college (undergraduate)? I go to a small, liberal arts school in PA and really am not happy there. This will be my senior year and I'm so looking forward to getting out. It makes me sad that I feel this way about college when it was supposed to be the best 4 years of life. Anybody else feel this way about college? I've become very apathetic about school and wish I had gone to college when I was ready instead of slogging through the past 3 years. I should have transferred too but money was a big issue. Anybody else feel their college experience blew?
