At my favorite restaurant, I'm considered a very good tipper.

As a matter of fact? There are several senior waitresses (middle aged women), who are "pulling rank" on the other waitresses, in order to have me as their customer. That hasn't bothered me up until now, but lately there has been a new waitress - very good looking - who I would like to have waiting on me.

But at this point? She couldn't wait on me if she wanted to, because these other waitresses keep "hijacking" me as their customer. I know I can tell these other waitresses to just "screw off" - but I would like to do this without hurting any of their feelings. And besides - since they have a lot of senority - they have the ability to mess up this other waitress by cutting her hours or otherwise seeking retaliation. And they would do it to.

So what's the best way to handle this situation?

It costs seven bucks with guacamole and I'm kinda hungry, but I don't want to spend seven bucks on something I can get by without. It would be more of a snack at this point.

I notice that you almost always have to sign the receipt when you use your credit card, even at the movies. Why is it fast food and food court restaurants don't usually have you sign? Can I refuse to pay the charges on my card since technically I never agreed to by signing anything?

I'm not a waiter. As a customer, I like to leave tips in excess of 30% or 40% as a kind of "pay-it-forward" gesture. Life is good to me and I feel like sharing it with waitstaff. When I hear just how little waitstaff make/hour and how usually employers consider tips as part of your pay I feel like how could anyone not leave at least the minimum amount--no matter what the service. Maybe I just don't have enough friends and I'm trying to buy friendships? (I eat at the same places often.) I think it's just that I like being generous :) But sometimes I do wonder what the perspective is from the other side of the equation.
