It seems most restaurants are very dark with the exception of fast food joints such as McDonald's. I could never figure out what the reason for this is. If I had my choice, I'd have Xenon lighting in a restaurant. I like to actually see what it is that I'm eating.

because its always so awkward when you have a waiter standing over you and I'm never satisfied with the amount of pepper I receive. I always feel to say when far short of the time I have adiquate pepper.

First of all, it was good rice, besides the rock.
Second, that's the only offense I've ever had from that restaurant.

If you are working as a server in a small company should the owners expect you to train and teach service that sells without extra compensation?

I have been asked to be lead or senior server and train in fine dining without extra pay, and I want trainer pay.

Am I out of line? I worked many years for the expertise that I have. It should be worth something..

Recently on youtube I discovered a a channel named pointless corner, I found it deeply amusing! I subscribed to his videos, added him as a friend, and he asked me if I wanted to share his channel! Naturally I was honoured, but then he told me he was gay! I was shocked, he certainly doesn't look it! We had arranged to meet to exchange ideas about the channel, but I think I should cancel, or should I?

How much tip do you get on average for a breakfast or meals under $10.00? Lets say its $6.00, are you happy with a 20% 1.20 tip, or is there usually a minimum on average? Personally if its good service, I leave $2.00 min for anything under $10.00. Wondering what most others do.

1/2 the time I go out, the service is crap. It would be great if a national standard got started for service and how much they'd get tipped then. Does anybody do this and what is their setup?
1. For example if they only fill drink once, or its empty for 5 minutes and you have to ask to get it.
2. your in a rush and they throw down the receipt after you've been waiting 10 minutes to get it, just to have them run off and come back another 10 minutes later to pick it up. Etc.
3. AND after you made a special order, they bring the food out when it was done wrong, knowing its done wrong to see if you'll take it. ( a good waiter/waitress would be the one to tell the cook immediately so you don't have to worry about sending it back on your own)

In those situations i"m very tempted to not tip at all or very little. I also think they prob wouldn't get the point or know why.

Do you just tip flat amount no matter what, or what do you do in those situations?
