The most proper is 10% of the bill. Most servers whether its buffet or full service make below minimum wage. They should also be keeping your table cleared of dirty plates and drinks refilled to earn this tip.

10-15% of the total bill depending on how good they were, when at a buffet the waitress should still be comming buy to fill drinks, take old plates and just asking if everything is ok.

I think it's an individual decision. Suggested etiquette may be considered 10 percent, or you can choose to look at the fact that the poor girl or guy must be struggling financially and decide generosity would be proper etiquette, if you can afford to.

She also has to clean your plates. And give everyone refills. Which can be a lot to do when she has many tables. I don't tip as much as I do at a normal resaurant, but I still leave like 3 bucks for me and 1 other person.
