I usually check my bag before I drive away. If they have it wrong, I just go in and tell them and they give me the right thing. It's a bit irritating but it's better than realizing it when you get home and having to either drive all the way back and get the right thing or having to eat what you didn't order.

I usually get really upset because it is always when I am really hungry. I went to dinner for Valentines day and I ordered a Filet and they brought me a T- Bone! I have yet to figure out how they got that confused, and then didnt even offer to give me a discount. As well, they were going to cook it a lot tougher than I wanted until the manager told me why it was taking so long and I explained that it shouldnt take that long when I only want it cooked Medium not Well Done... ehhhhhhh.

I don't necessarily get upset when my order is wrong. The waitstaff and the kitchen staff are only human, and unfortunately, humans make mistakes.
Where I get upset is with how the situation is handled. In other words, if I ask for what I ordered (and no, I won't scream at a waitress if there's onions on my burger and I ordered no onions) and I get major attitude - and even then, I don't get angry. I don't like to yell at people. It doesn't do any good. I will again ask them to fix my order, and if they are unable to do so, could they please send over someone who can.

Get really annoyed, especially if it's take out or delivery. Have been known if it's delivery (live in NYC) to make them redeliver the correct thing that was ordered. Or will return what we got. I want what I ordered, especially as I'm on a diet and i order things that are special and want what I want. I pay for it, give it to me right.
At restaurants, will send it back until they get it right. Can drive waitstaff crazy, but I don't care.

I can usually tolerate it when the person taking the order is obviously a new employee. But when that person acts like he/she could care less if he gets it right, then it's another story. I've worked food service long enough that I can usually tell the difference between kitchen and server error.

I do not get irritated anymore.
I pull my car over or check the order before I leave.
If it is wrong, I get it fixed right away and carry on.
If it happens too often , I have the choice to go elsewhere.
Life is way too short to get upset about takeout orders.
I have the ability to eat elsewhere or make it myself.

I used to get really irritated, to the point where it would ruin my meal. Then I realized that I was the one who was suffering. Now I just have to let it go. Otherwise, I'm unhappy.
I do draw the line at plastic in my food, though.....That happened a few weeks ago.

Send them a polite e-mail or make a calm phone call. You might get a free salad.
Or try checking your order before you leave.
