Which of these DSLR cameras will you buy and why?

I am comparing the Canon 400D, Nikon D80 and D200 which is better in your opinion and why? I am looking for a mid-pro range with an 18-200 lens to keep for several years.

My first choice was the D80 and then Canon annouced the 400D few days back. which 18-200 lens with vibration reduction would be a good choice with that model? would you get the 400D over the Nikon D200 if you had the choice?

Any help from first hand experience is appreciated.

Looking into buying a digital SLR. I though I'd stick with Cannon so I can use the lenses from my film SLR (28-75mm & 70-300mm). Can anyone provide me with feedback? I'm an amateur photographer and price and affordability has a big influence on my final decision.

Thanks!

Neither of my CD drives work on my computer. I want to buy a digital camera but most come with a CD for the software. Is it possible for me to somehow put the information I need onto a USB flashdrive from the CD and then use the flashdrive to install the software I need for the camera onto my computer? Do I even need the software? Or do I not even need the software for the camera if I already have HP Image. Wouldn't I just be able to use the USB with the camera to transfer pictures without the software is kinda what I'm getting at..... please help. Thanks!

The new Nikon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras looks pretty good. I like the focal range of the zoom, but the specs don't indicate if there is a macro setting for close-up shots of spiders, flowers, the hearts of attorneys.
