I want a good quality digital camera. Not too pricey. What should I look for?

Whatever you do don't buy before October. Photokina, the major photography trade show, starts on Sept 26 and that is where new cameras get announced. New cameras = older cameras on the market now will drop in price. So pick a camera you like and wait a few weeks before buying it. Good luck!

I always buy Canon and highly recommend it for digital cameras. It is the best brand out there. It could be a bit pricey, but it lasts a long time and takes spectacular pictures. If you're looking for something around the 5 - 6 megapixel range then, I would suggest PowerShot SD700 IS. The IS stands for Image Stabilization, so if you're a bit shaky, it'll still keep your shot clear and sharp, instead of blurry. I would definitely invest in this camera, even though it's a little pricey ($400-500). However, it's very powerful, it'll last you a long time, and well-worth the money. If it's too costly for you, I would still stick with Canon, but look for a different model that suits your needs.

Look for optical zoom.. NOT digital zoom (digital zoom is utterly worthless) Some of best brand names would be Fuji, Kodac, and Olympus... (I have a Fuji and love it, have taken about 1500 pix with no problems and love battery life in them) XGF Had a Canon and it was nice but seemed to run batteries dead FAST so buy extra if going on a trip with it.

Anything (in a good brand) OVER 3.2 to 3.6 Megapixels will give you high quality pix that will print out perfectly. You can even sent the pix to places like Wal Mart via Net and get them as low as 19 cents a piece...

Hi, First off I would like to say that I strongly favor Nikon or Canon,
look for a minimum of 4M to 5M pixels for a quality photo. I also
recommend not buying at a best buy, circuit city, etc, etc.
I have purchased many cameras and lenses through this company, they are very experienced and prices are approximately 20-40% less than any competitor around.
They are most trustworthy and deliever what they promise
Go to Adorama.com ,they are in New York.shipping is very reasonable. Hope this helps you out.

My first digital camera was an Oympus D-535 zoom.
I still use it on occasion, but have now purchased something with more Mega pixels.
You should be able to get something decent for around $125-130.
That's enough to invest so that you can determine if going digital is really the way you want to go

Assuming you're not professional photograher.
1. Get the one with at least 5 mega pixels.
2. MUST comes with minimum 3x optical zoom.
3. Buy those comes with international warranty.
4. do some research on the review of the camera of your target, site recommanded www.dpreview.com
5. Lots of reasonable price camera comes with above features, if you don't mind an going-to-discontinue models, it would save you lots of money and still served the purpose, and comes with warranty too.

I would recommend going to like Best Buy or Cicuit City, where you can get a good open box buy, with a warranty. Thats what I would do, as with all new technological devices, they are not built to last. Make sure that you get a camera that takes cards that your computer reads as well, it makes things a little easier.

My favorits are the Sony CD 400 (uses mini disk)
And the Fuji finepix F10 (aluminum housing instead of plastic!)

You can pay a little more for a camera then use it to sell a few things on e-bay and your back even again!

I sold many things and it paid for 100% of my camera.
(Bought my camera off e-bay,great bargins!)
