Does any else have this problem with DVD players?

I have looked at the instruction manual over and over. My wife and I cannot make that little icon go away. It is a MagnaVox MDV458.

To top things off, we bought the kids a DVD player and the same thing happens. That icon won't go away either.

here's the deal, Im getting a new cell phone for my birthday, and it has to be prepaid. I want a t mobile phone because the minutes are cheaper, but I have used virgin mobile for a couple years now and know them well. virgin mobile also has ways to earn minutes and my whole family uses virgin mobile. should I switch though? I have to use this phone for at least the next 2 years so I want to pick the best one. please help me and if you can think of a better pre paid service that I can use, then reccomendations are strongly welcomed.

What connection is better, a VGA connection or a Component connection when hooking up my LCD TV to my cable box. The instructions say VGA for very best followed by Component, I question that though.

It was fine - I took an international flight and when I arrived the screen was damaged. It doesn't make sense as it was in it's protective case in my hand luggage. What could have caused it, cause I know I didn't drop it. Air preassure? x-rays? Is there any chance I can repair it? If not is there any point in flogging it on ebay for it's parts?
