Programming & Design - June 2007

I understand the basics of PHP (they're similar to other coding languages) but th emore advanced stuff like classes, and connecting with MySQL I simply can't understand. I'm wondering if there are any very easy to follow ways to learn. Please don't just suggest PHP for Dummies or something like that, I've tried, and just don't understand.

I have a desktop running windows xp connected to a adsl/router via a etrhernet cable ,the desktop is connected to a printer via a USB cable this prints ok.
My Laptop communicates with the Internet wirelessly as does the desktop via the Ethernet cable connected to the Router . QUESTION how can I get the laptop to connect to the printer and print via Router .The Laptop is running Windows Vista

I have become really bored with the network side of I.T. and I really enjoy graphics and design..Since I really have no previous professional experience, what type of salary can I probably expect? I don't want to drop too far from where I am now salary wise. So I'm not sure if it's worth it to switch fields at this stage. Any suggestions

OK this is what i am looking for...

i already have bought a web hosting account.
i want my "new" server to check my all other sites (page by page) automatically (and periodically) for accessibility.
my site (and it's SiteMap) changes about 10 times a day.
so i want my server to get links from sitemap and check those links for accessibility. (i don't need serious Log)
please help me to set up this. (using script or other way)
i know C, HTML, and VB programing. But new to java. and knows nothing about Php.

I see "Sign Generators" for everything now. "Make your own Movie Marquee Sign" , "Make your own Freeway Sign" etc.

How are these things made? I notice the pages are usually written in PHP but is there some sort of tutorial or an example anywhere? I want to try and create my own.

Okay, I have a forum where I organize a lot of video game tournaments and such. I have decided it's about time to buy a domain, but since I don't know much about domains and such I need help. What is a good place to buy from, and how do you get a forum to go along with it? Like say my site was called mcdonalds.com, how/where could i get a forum called mcdonaldsforum.com or mcdonalds.com/forum? (I am not actually calling my site mcdonalds, its just an example, hahaha.) I've coded some pretty hefty CSS files before, but this one I'm working with lately is over 20k! IMO, thats a bit on the bulky side, but the CSS can't really be condensed anymore, so there isnt really much I can do. What do you guys think is a good max filesize that a style sheet should be?
