I found that many application for business purposes (such as accounting, inventory, AP/AR/GL, even includes manufacturing process, CRM) could sharing a similar database schema.

Why nobody try to consolidate together and build a BEST database schema, and everybody follows it, to improve communication among applications? Or we could either build a BASIC Standard database schema, and allow people doing extension from it.

It could save a lot of effort people putting it. These people all are spending time in doing similar job, and still create barrier for applications communicate to each other.

Or, if there is one, please tell me where is it. Thanks.

My windows xp was pre-installed so I have no removable disk. It also says insert 'scan' disk & click ok. I also get a message saying error 1706 no valid source could be found for product scan. The windows installer cannot continue. Can someone please help me out?

There are some things I need to do that VB Script cannot do, so I made a class with the calls and checked the "make visible to Com" flag. Trying to register the dll with regsvr gives me a "no entry point found" error, and trying to add it to component services gives me a "no components found" error.

I am at the end of my rope and have searched google groups, msdn, and just about everywhere else. There does not appear to be any document that explains it so that it actually works.

Well I'm considering taking some computer courses, but I haven't decided my major yet, so I would like to know what programming is. The course I might take includes basic concepts of data representation, user interface design, and software engineering; however, I have no idea what these are. Is there any way to know if I'm interested in these aspects? Also, is Java easy or hard for a beginner?
