Edit it with some program like Photoshop or Start>All Programs>Accessories>Paint , aand then go to File>Save As> instead of .bmp choose .jpeg.

Open it with an image editor like MS Paint, and then click File->Save As and select the appropriate format in the drop-down box under where you type the name of the new file. If you don't like MS Paint, you can try Irfanview or GIMP. GIMP is harder to use, but it does more. From the sounds of it, I think you would probably be better off with Irfanview. open the file the bitmap file in ACDC or similar programs where you can view / edit photos
usually there is an option in "FILE" menu called 'SAVE AS"
use this option and while saving just below the file name in the Save Window, right at bottom, choose the type / format you want to save as
that's it

You can change the file format if you open the picture in Photoshop (regardless of what version it is) and click (save as) then right under where you name the photo there is a box that if you scroll through you can pick whatever format you need. Hope that helped!

save as
on the drop down box select JPEG
click save and you got it

When I download from my camera, I have to right-click the picture and "export" to a jpg.
