Other - Computers - September 2006

I've only every used a Graphical User Interface before and I don't have a clue what to do with a Command Line User Interface. Could you start me up please or just give me some basic commands? I'm using version 5.1.2600.

I found a computer in the newspaper today at COMPUSA for $149. Its an HP, and it has
- HP 17" CRT Monitor
-HP all in one printer
-Burns and plays CDs
-256 MB, 80 GB hardrive.

Can you tell me if its any good? Should I get it?

I worked on a powerpoint file for weeks for a business presentation, after all the effort and completing 89 slides, the file suddenly stopped working! i dunno what da hell happened to it. could anyone help me recover this file...Ofcourse the best answer gets 10 points rightaway. I am in a hurry...ur earliest response will be much appreciated.

This used to work fine on my ancient computer in the 1980s - DOS programmes only - we used Wordstar back then. But I can't get it to work now.

I'm on Windows 98 operating system. Oh - and plain English only, please, my working knowledge of computers is a degree or so above zero!

I need to run some macros and it can't be done with a mouse.

So I need the shortcut key to select desktop icons and then navigate with keyboard shortcuts.

No mouse, just a key that will highlight the first icon or so on the desktop.

When I go into the internet, the words are so small, it is hard to read them. Everything else is good. It is just the font on the internet. The menu font is oaky along with Microsoft Word. How can I change the font back?

I watch as the Pope is almost sorry for quoting a Text about Muslims and now all the Muslims are crazy mad. The text made sense to me and it was not the Popes words he was quoting. If
Muslims are that sensitive then maybe they should stop 9-11's from happening..What do you think?

Ive encountered a serious problem with my laptop ): here it is: when I charge my laptop, the 'low battery sign' flashes red. Then the 'charging battery sign' flashes green. This continues non-stop. However my laptop works perfectly like this. But when I plug out my charger, my laptop turns off. It is not a problem with my plug sockets nor is it a problem with my laptop power cable. I've had the laptop for 2 years. This problem came about suddenly about a week ago. Can you please help me?
