when i type the smal flashing line after each letter keeps jumping backcausing jumbled words any clues how i rectify

I had this problem when i was using the laptop and my palm kept touching the touchpad (the mouse sensor on your laptop) accidently. What I did was to turn off my touchpad and connected a wired mouse. solved all my typing problems
