Internet - June 2006

Everything is slow or won't open at all. Is this a side effect of yahoo answers or a virus? What do I do now? I want it to go back to how it used to run.

I have a pop up blocker for my internet explorer and for my Yahoo SBC Browser, but recently (after a system restore) I have been getting pop ups from internet explorer (i use my yahoo browser). After a few days of only a couple pop ups, they started getting worse, now when i look at my desktop there are new icons there for advertisements, like i installed something. But I haven't, I click the 'x' on all the pop ups, I don't download anything. Now i have accumulated about 3 new icons, two for casinos and the other one i think it was a game room or something like that.
My question is, where are these comming from all the sudden, are they hurting my computer or memory space, and how do I stop them? Like i said, i have both my pop up blockers on high, and haven't had this problem before.

I heard horror stories, so it is making me hesitate. Sites like www.paypalwarning.com and others are urging people not to sign up because they can freeze my account for no reason... sounds like a big headache. But what other alternatives are out there if I want to transact in ebay?

When I open my Yahoo mail, all I can see is the "Compose" page with the blank message space...no matter what I click, all I see is the blank message, besides the Address book. I've waited for afew WEEKS and it's still the same. Also I tried to reboot, but it didn't work either...help!!!!!!! I'm out of solutions!!!!!

Many, many times I have found a great website with products I want or need. After doing my shopping and comparing, I finally try to complete my order. Sometimes the ordering website will even ask for 'State or Province'. (See homereserve.com for an example.) But when I try to complete the order, I find out they only ship to the U.S. Many American companies seem to think all visitors to their websites are American and don't feel any need to at least indicate what currency the prices are in. It's called the WORLD WIDE Web, folks!

I've learned my lesson and generally check the checkout page BEFORE shopping. But, as with homereserve.com, even that can be misleading.

My computer is acting really crazy i have Verizon DSL i go on then its says i'm not on the internet and i keep getting a lot of errors their use too be a computer on the toolbar it use to blink and now its gone.

Sometimes when I click on a question I see an answer that particularly offends me or is completely wrong. Can I answer the question by refering to that person and putting them straight. Or is it none of my business what other people answer?

on this site, i have asked a total of 30 questions. all answers are resolved. why is it on my stats, it show 3% open? and one of my first questions, i deleted it to reword it. why do my stats still show 3% deleted? when will it stop showing that my question was deleted? im very new to this site and would appreciate your input

Whenever I open My Yahoo, I get a steady steam of pop ups. They take over my computer and I have to use Windows Task Manager to end and exit the program. I really like the My Yahoo gui but can't use it because of the popups. This happens with Internet Explorer and with Firefox even when running the Popup Blocker, Freedom, supplied by Adelphia (my cabel modem supplier).
