sounds like you don't have the right drivers installed on your computer... it could just be that when you download it... it doesn't do it right... ask Microsoft about it...

three ideas:
1. you either don't have enough oomph in your computer or you are using old stuff like Win98.
2. you are trying to play a file that your version of WMP can't play
3. you are using WMP

three solutions:
1. defrag then ensure you have the codecs needed.
2. update, then ensure you have the codecs needed.
3. RealPlayer or Quicktime. both are superior to WMP

the audio works because it is simple.

You don't say whether the *same* videos will work if you download them first, or if its just other videos that you've downloaded work. If its the latter, it could be a codec problem. Try installing XP Codec pack (http://www.xpcodecpack.com/). Also, consider getting a decent video player like BSPlayer or Winamp.

Try a diff source, or try clearing the cache and reboot. If offline video works, it cant be any issues with ur WMP. Best of lucks

My friend if this happens with all the files then there is something wrong with your media player. Please Reinstall it. but this is the case with some of the files or any perticullar Extension then Please Download codeds for them. I think you need to download Video Codecs for your Media Player.

first do a defrag, re-boot then do a scandisk and re-boot.
