why does apple inc. use such a ridiculous naming convention? why are all of their product names preceded by an "i" (lower case for no explicit reason). for example: iPod, iPhone, iMac, and even proprietary software like iPhoto and iTunes etc.

I'm not TOTALLY clueless, but some of the stuff I read trying to find a direct answer gives me hives.

I just got a laptop with vista-boy does it suck-but my desktop operates on xp. I have a program on my desktop for my wireless (satellite) provider, and all of the settings are simple. Before I screw something up, lol....
will this network work with two different operating systems? All I really want to do is to be able to use my internet on the laptop, I don't need to share any other files-will I have to manually go in and configure all of the tcp/ip stuff or will it automatically detect due to the network?

Basically, I guess what I'm asking is will my laptop just borrow a wireless connection from my desktop, or will I have to configure it all seperately?

Would gladly accept any helpful info from those far more knowledgeable than myself!

I would like a new wireless router that is easy (extremely easy) to set up and run, doesn't freeze all the time, works well, and a decent price. I'm leaning towards linksys--my mom has one and has been happy with it. Any opinions??

I know that when my laptop is connected to the internet, the wireless light is on and blinking. After I turn it off, it used to stay on for a couple of minutes, then turn off. However, yesterday night, my laptop wasn't on at all, but I looked, and the wireless light on my router was on. Does that mean somebody's leeching off of my connection? Or was it maybe because my laptop was downloading updates or something, even when it was off?

I bought the MacBook Pro because Apple told me it would be better than a PC. They were completely full of sh!t and just fed me whatever bull they wanted to make a sale. The MacBook can't do ANYTHING. It works with virtually NO games. My neighbor bought himself a new HP laptop (same thickness as MacBook Pro) and he can do everything and MORE than my pile of hud can -- all at a fraction of the cost of what I paid!!! Seriously, why does Apple insist on screwing its customers?

I'm using Delphi and I'd like to code something similar to the MAC (Mpeg Audio Collection) but for other kind of files as well. (from exes to zips and everything in between too: images, videos, pdfs...)

I don't remember a single thing about databases. I tried MySQL but it was a pain to install and couldn't link the database propperly...

So, what kind of database should I use? links to tutorials would be so great, I've got to start all over with databases...

Only Delphi please...

Tell the truth people!

I've had some saying that there is, and that there isn't.

So what's the real truth? I've heard many accusations on both sides:

Macs do get viruses, it's just that their users fail to accept it.

Macs don't! PC fanboy lies!

Macs can, but just by a small chance.

There are, but they don't hurt Macs as much.

You don't get viruses at all, on any OS, if you just have a good Anti-virus, and are careful what you do on the internet.

NO way! Macs don't get them at all. PC users are just jealous! Hmmph!

So what is it people? What do you think? Do Macs get viruses, or is it just a myth?

I am trying to configure our office lan. There is no info on the switch itself, and I can't find anything on or in the box, but I know there must be a way by doing something like a netstat from a connected computer. I only have access to macs, so windows utilities and 3coms setup won't work. Surely there's a command line interface?

I tried to hook up my speakers on my computer by putting them in the lime green port on my XP computer but that didn't work. so i thought maybe the speakers were broken, so I hooked them up{ the same way I previously had} on my ME computer. They worked fine, so it's not the speakers it's the computer, right? Everytime I try to adjust the volume controls on my PC, I get a mesage telling me to go to the control panel, click printers, and then install the hardware. I tried that but nothing worked. I think it's my sound card. Could the problem have started because the computer was recently restored? Also, there is no way I can access my volume controls. The icon on my XP is gone and I'm not sure how to get it back? Please help! Thank you!

Hi i am thinking of upgrading the amount of ram i have on my computer and was wondering, could i just buy any stick of ram and plug it in or would i have to have a specific type?

My computer specs:
Dell Dimension 9150
Dual core pentium 4 @ 3.00ghz
1gb ram (factory)
Ati x1950 pro

i have chosen some ram of amazon (the link is at the bottom), so do you think that this would work?

thanx in advance for any help.

Ok i am a newbie to web design, heres the problem i came across.

The website is http://www.f3kusa.com/

When i go view it with Firefox, everything is fine.
When i view it with Internet Explorer, everything is out of place. Is there something wrong with my code? or it has something to do with my server? i think they are using Red Hat Linux 7.

I am using Dreamweaver 8 as my web creator. I hope i gave all the information i need to help me solve this problem.
