yeah-craigslist is a free classified for every major city. But to be honest, low tech might be the best way to go. Try printing up some business cards and ask at the local daycares, grocery store, etc if you can leave them there or put up a flyer. Busy moms will respond most to something they don't have to go out searching for.
Daycares are usually only open during business hours, and every mom would love the opportunity to have a night out every now and then....my mom worked at one for years, and she had SO many people ask for a responsible after hours sitter.

Just FYI- as a user of sitters, I would never hire one off the Internet, no matter how perfect they might seem.
All of my sitters come from personal references, talking at the doggie day care, church, etc.
