1. Use a network cable and plug in your PC into the router.

2 Shut down your modem and wait about 2 Min's then turn the modem back on wait for 3 steady lights.

3.Turn on your router

4.Open IE and make sure you can get on the Internet. If you can not you may want to contact your ISP.

5. If you can then its time setup your wireless open IE and type in to 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 depending on your wireless router. This will prompt for a password look at the documentation for that info.

6. Go to setup wireless. Make sure to change the SSID to something unique. You can use WEP key which u will need to enter on the PC using wireless.

Most people leave the SSID as default to Linksys followed by bunch of numbers and sometime u will be connected to your neighbor who also may own a linksys. It may say connected but if they are downloading and surfing the web you may not have enough bandwidth so your browser times out. Most ISP will support on name brand routers.

Do you have any firewall installed on your computer? That could cause issue while opening a site.

Also go to command prompt:
click on start -> Run -> type command or cmd (which ever works) -> and then type ping yahoo.com

See if you get some replies or if you get Request time out.

If request time out you are not able to reach the yahoo server that means some problem with your internet, and try to restart your router and try connecting again.

If after the ping you get some response like TTL and stuff that means your internet is working fine and you need to check your firewall settings.

Tell me if it works or not.

there's a zillion different things you can tweak on the wireless network. Get any of them wrong and it won't work. Even if you get them all right you can get interference from neighbouring devices, and microwaves, cell phones etc. Wireless networks work on the basis that they are prone to interference and you have to live with it.
