I have regular DSL and just installed a wireless router for a new notebook I orderd. I need to know how to set the router so no other computer other than my 2 can use my wireless router signal to use the internet.

I don't want the neihbors getting free internet form me.

BTW the router is a linksis wrt54g

You need to visit http://192.168.1.1
Unless you changed the settings, this will take you to the control panel for your WRT54G. The default username is blank and the password is admin.

Look through the settings for wireless security -- enable WPA-PSK. This lets you set a secure key that you will then tell your laptop. No no one else can use your internet without that key.

For ultimate security, change the key regularly.

Follow the instructions in the router manual to set up 128 bit WEP or WPA encryption.

type 192.168.1.1 in your browser and it will ask you the name and password type "admin" for both and youll be in. then click the wireless tab and set a password
