Computers & Internet - 21 September 2006

All right I bought a Dell about 1 year ago (since I didnt have much money and I did the monthly payment thing) and I am obviously unsatisfied. Therefore I am building a computer, but I want to keep the RAM and the Hard Drive, and of course the input devices. I have built two computers before worked on computers, but I never really picked out the parts and I need to know if these will work. ( I dont see why not)

I have RAM from my dell (2 sticks of 256MB or DDR SDRAM PC 3200)

I already have a video card PCI Express x16, a case, a 400W Power Supply, and thermal grease

I guess while your at it you could tell me what I need to look at when looking for compatibility between CPU and MOBO besides socket and FSB.

I recently converted my entire music archive (5500 songs) from WMA format to MP3 files. this has freed me to non-proprietary encoding formats. I have been a long time Windows media player user and am looking for a good alternative. I have looked into iTunes and like the features such as native burning support where audio, MP3 CD, and data CD are offered. I dislike the Apple store and other related commercialization. I often use MP3 CD's in two cars and would like a similar experience. I am intending on using MP3 format only to avoid migrating my media twice. Free would be nice! what would you suggest?

I have been able to compress to about 12 meg with a free flash video encoder but my client is not happy with the quality and says it still takes long to load. Does anyone have suggestion as to how i can achieve a balance between file size / quality etc. I am new at video streaming so any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I was trying to use Excel to draw some XY Scatter charts using a table of data. However, the x-axis does not seem to recognize my data in 2006/09/22 format (I was unable to change it to other date format) and show funny dates (or even numbers!) on the x-axis.

Does anyone know of any possible solution to this? Appreciate your help!!

I have a .php page with this string
When you see it through you browser it displays "not currently logged in (Log in)" or "currently logged in, Mary"...
Now, I have put on that page a Flash header and I was wondering how can I make that string show up in Flash.
I am an absolute newbie. Please explain in detail.
