I prefer Avast because when i detect virus on a executable program Avast ask if you want to delete or move, AVG delete a executable program without ask, when i have the virus Win32 AVG see all executable as a risk and delete them,In Avast i remove this virus without delete a executable programs(except the infected programs).

I have tested all of these three and found out that AntiVir is better than the other two. It updates its database twice (sometimes trice) a day and has better detection and removal capabilities than both AVG and Avast. It freed up my PC from 125 viruses and malware and deleted every piece of malicious files without leaving traces.
Try AntiVir, you have nothing to lose.

First, don't pay for Anti-Virus software, there are plenty of free software available, and the top bunch are much better than the software you have to pay for, imho.
AVGFree is very good but there is an even better new kid on the block and it's ActiveVirus Shield. It is made by Kaspersky for AOL and not only is it free it is exactly he same as Kaspesrkys version bar the look.
Therefore, being the same software, they both ranked #1 in the well established virus.gr 2006 tests.

I have Avast both at home and at work and I have no problems with it. I know it keeps my computer out of danger because every time I try to d/l something that has a virus or adware attached to it, it makes this horrible sound and a window pops up telling me caution. I think Avast is your best bet.

Here is a list of all the major free anti-virus programs:
Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
Anti-Vir:
http://www.free-av.com/
AOL AntiVirusShield:

AVG:

BitDefender 8: (on-demand only, no real-time protection)

Clamwin: (on-demand only, no real-time protection)
http://www.clamwin.com/
I have tried them all and personally I like the new
AOL AntiVirusShield the best. Don't let the name AOL scare you. AntiVirusShield is made by Kaspersky which in test after test is always at the top or very near it in virus detection rates. Plus it is very lite in resource use, only about 5 MB of RAM. While not having as many features as the $40 Kaspersky program, it is 100% free to anyone, AOL member of not.
Good luck.
