I am currently in the market for a new computer. My budget is under $1000. I want something durable, that I can use w/Adobe Creative Suite. I will mostly use it for school and the internet. I know a bit about computers, but not enough. Any advice would be most welcome. Specifically I am looking for: brand recommendation, specific specs I should look for, etc.

Thank you.

For example, Dell forces the person to buy everything (mobo, cpu, graphics card, memory, etc) through their computer builder. I want to buy a computer with just the tower, mobo, and cpu installed. Is there any computer company that lets me do that? I looked into barebone systems but they don't quite have what I am looking for.

i was thinking of getting one because mp pc memory is low but before i do i need to know some things. what can i put on it? like can i install pc games to it and they will run the same way? will i have 2 desktops if i get one? can i download stuff from the internet straight to it? can i share files from it? do they need to be plugged in or does it get powered by usb? is there a chance that files can get lost while transfering from my main hard drive to the external one
i know thats a lot of questions in the one but if you know any answers to any of them i would be very happy

Hi,

I just got a new computer and it's main operating system is the media addition but, it starts up looking for windows XP Professional which I don't have. If you not sitting right at the computer to hit the up arrow and enter to make it go to Media center is fails to start and needs to reboot.
This is driving me crazy since new updates happen all the time and my computer needs to restart and I'm not always there to direct it to Media addition.
Thanks for any help since I hate calling the support lines.

I am selling my old computer since I just got a new one. How can I be sure that all of my past documents I have saved and past website histories I looked at cannot be brought back to life after I have allready deleted them?
I have been told people can still acess them from the computer even if you have deleted them.

Windows will not recognize the drive, I tried to find it in disk management and I will not show up. It is powering up just fine. I believe that it may be a problem with the external hard drive being unable to transfer the info to the computer; I have tried a new USB cable and power supply as well as another computer with no luck. I am aware that I can remove the hard drive from the case and install internally, however I am looking for another alternative.Lacie is no help as I have lost the receipt. Any Ideas? Thanks

I have shut down the computer and rebooted but nothing. I have Internet Explorer, but all my bookmarks are on Firefox so I can't access any of them. If I delete and reinstall, I will probably regain use of Firefox but will have lost the bookmarks.

Ok...So on Friday night I installed a linksys N router...no problems with the installation, works on a laptop with built in wireless adapter fine....so then yesterday I installed a Linksys Wireless-N PCI adapter...WMP300N..right off the bat I had problems...trying to get into the Control Panel on the computer I am met with an error saying "An error occured with Windows was working with Control Panel file C:\WINDOWS\system32\netsetup.cpl....but that doesnt seem to be a problem unless I try to go into the network connections...
Also, although the PCI card is correctly installed, the signal goes in and out...and is very low. The antenna has to be put in a certain location in order for the computer to aquire a network address.. Granted this desktop is a floor up and about 130 feet away...but isnt the Wireless N network supposed to be able to handle that easily?
Is there something I need to do on the router to increase the range? Does it have something to do with the channels? Help please

I've owned many computers over the years. Without fail, they slow down and perform at a fraction of what they did when new. Obviously being connected to the internet exposes the PC to viruses and adware yet, despite diligent scanning and cleaning, it eventually needs replacing. What's going on inside the PC that is causing it to become essentially obsolete within a few years?
