The major damage to a computer by overclocking is the extra heat that is generated.
Heat is a killer of electronic components.
If an overclocked computer does not have LOTS of extra cooling the whole chip set will be destroyed sooner than later.

it certainly can but it doesn't have to, I've fried one of my PC's before by overclocking. But OCing is only harmful if done in excess and causes your CPU to overheat and cause instability, and only certain types of CPU can be overclocked. No, overclocking fundamentally does not damage your PC, but the overheating will.

No you're only paranoid. The equipment and CPU itself has a temperature reduce and could do precisely what it did and close down earlier any damage is carried out. maximum bios have a temperature placing for shutdown. also, operating a CPU at extreme temperatures for lengthy era of circumstances will make the CPU liable to failing.

It would be damaged from the extra heat.
The best way would be to increase it bit by bit and monitor the temp.

Yes, it can, but you can overcome the heat with extra heatsinks or fans.
