Windows will not recognize the drive, I tried to find it in disk management and I will not show up. It is powering up just fine. I believe that it may be a problem with the external hard drive being unable to transfer the info to the computer; I have tried a new USB cable and power supply as well as another computer with no luck. I am aware that I can remove the hard drive from the case and install internally, however I am looking for another alternative.Lacie is no help as I have lost the receipt. Any Ideas? Thanks

Check the jumper setting on the back of the HD. It should be set to master for a external i believe. Try all the jumper settings, (they may be marked on the top of the drive itself, or do a search with the hard drive name and jumper settings. Theres a little clip that fits over the pins on the back of the drive, They need to be set properly in order for the PC to read it. (Primary, secondary Slave and Master. Slave or master should work for the external,, not sure what one..
