I just had a tire blowout on the rear wheel of my sedan a couple of days ago. When I went to get a replacement tire, I told them I'd rather buy only one new tire if that was safe and logical... they told me that it was because they had an equivalent model in stock. They replaced it and everything looks fine, but I'm wondering - the tread looks quite different (significantly deeper) on the new tire. There is still plenty of tread left on the opposite tire (passes the penny and wear bar test easily) - i'm just wondering if the difference in the amount of tread creates any sort of unsafe situation. The size is the same, different brands. THANKS in advance!

I was driving back across the M4 Second Severn Crossing Bridge early this morning, signs said slow down to 50 miles per hour.Is there an expert in vector analysis who could explain the theory(briefly)why slow speeds are safer in blustery conditions.Oh by the way, a tornado in Cwmbran would be more than welcome(better than that stupid bloomin' poodle).

my 3 year old is going on a trip with my mom and they are traveling in a RV i told her to get the carseat and she said she didn't need it because they are in the RV. so does that mean you never have to strap in like on a school bus? I would think it is even less safe than anything else cause there is soo much loose stuff in there

I am going to court in January for a speeding ticket I recieved. I got two tickets which is 4 points on my license just a little over a year and a half ago it will be 2 years in April. for speeding but with me going to be an EMT/Firefighter I cannot have two more points on my license or I will be fired. I am going to admit responsiblity but ask if instead take driver improvment class or something else instead of the points. When I go in will I be able to talk to the cop before court starts or the DA? What are my chances maybe of taking a defensive driving class instead? Do I need to talk to the cop about it before and have him suggest it??

I was saddened to hear that James Kim's body was found earlier
today. He and his family had been stranded in Oregon in below-
freezing temperatures for over a week. They had a cell phone
with them, but apparently there was no cell phone coverage in the
area they were in.

My question is - would another form of communications
technology have been able to reach out from that remote area?
A satellite phone? shortwave radio? CB?

This is my first real time driving in snow. I drove to work today, and I slid around. I tried not to slam on my brakes or accelerate too fast, but I still slid. Coming home was worse. There's no one there to take me to work and I can't call in. I have a Chevy Cobalt . My parents did put snow tires on it but they aren't studded. I don't have enough money to buy a different car. I have to go back tonight and I do not feel comfortable driving. Can anybody offer me any driving tips?

Do you know what I mean? I'm driving on the outside lane and a car parked on the street ahead of me suddenly opens his door and I cannot dodge it because there are cars in the inside lanes.

I was curious about this. If you're driving up to a light that is green and a pedestrian decides to cross the street anyway, who has the right of way? Should they wait until it's red for the driver or not?

Curious what others think. I hate people that just go and expect you to stop.

The lines look like the loop lines in the road around stoplights, but these are way out in the middle of nowhere on the interstates and there is always a pole with a solar panel on the side of the road next to them. I assume they're some kind of sensor, but what are they sensing??

It is not necessary to run the children to school in a huge 4 wheel drive off roader, neither is it necessary for middle aged men who should know better to drive in towns in their ridiculous 4litre all wheel drive petrol guzzling off roaders. Farmers may need them. Your thoughts please.

What if the driver turning left onto the busy street gets there first does he have the right of way? What if on the other side of the road the other car is going straight through. The turning left would yeild but would he continue to yeild to cars coming straight through the intersection from the other stop sign even though turning left is stopped first?
