Man, I am so with the fact that they made that law in NYC where if you get caught using ur cell while driving-you get up to a $250 ticket. They need to implement that law here in Georgia-these people are ridiculous with their cells! I swear every day there's an accident on 285 and they're mostly caused by folks yapping away on their phones.

Honestly, it's not the cell phone that causes the accidents. it's the idiots using them. Some people can talk and perfectly pay attention at one time, but a lot of people cannot. And typically, the person that can't multitask isn't much of a driver anyhow, since driving requires you to multitask. It's the same as talking to a passenger while driving, or the mom yelling at her kids to not throw things in the car. And, even at that, while driving, you need to pay attention to what the cars around you are doing. I've avoided many wrecks by simply being alert and watching the cars coming up behind me too fast, or the person not paying attention to the stop sign at the end of his road. If you can't pay attention to the road, among other things, you shouldn't be driving period.

Using a mobile phone (which is what we in the UK call them) while driving means you are 4 times likely to cause an accident.

People die because mobile phone users refuse to put the gOddarn things away when they're at the wheel.

It's illegal of course in the UK but that doesn't stop the morons.

When people are on the phone they need to be aware of their surroundings. I do not like to talk on the phone while driving, and especially people who do it also. I wait until the car is parked, then I call or call back a missed call. Even with a wireless headset, the mind is not in control.

it really depends on the person. If they can multi-task well, than I dont see a problem with it. What worries me is when you see these 16 year old high school block-heads driving around with 5 of their friends in the car AND talking on the phone. I weep for the future.

I can not wait until it's illegal to drive while on your cellphone here in Calif. Its a very dangerous thing to drive while on the phone. Everyone needs to use a handsfree type phone that has to use a phone while driving. It very dangerous exspecially for all us motorcyclists. All those cagers on phones don't see us bikers

They do. I know, I've seen. It's not pretty. You're distracted by the conversation and you "switch off" rather than concentrating on what you're doing. Not just whilst driving, I've seen people run over and fall down whilst talking on them. Be sensible when using 'phones!!
