If I buy a ticket from my station to one "down the road", can I hop on any train that arrives that's going to stop there? (We have two companies running trains over the same route, one a local one and one Virgin Cross Country)

I've noticed that some of the operators wear gloves while operating their train, even in the summer. Some do not. What's the reason, either with or without gloves?

I really find waiting for a train so boring, epecially when you've just missed it by a split second and then you know you have a big boring 40 minutes wait. I think they should install some tv screens at stations or run more trains. I mean they earn enough money from the public don't they?

I read in the paper today that as from january the prices of tickets to travel on first scotrail is going up by 12% . at the momment its cheaper for me to drive my gas guzzler 200 miles than take the train but i ts less hassle to take the train . how can this 12% price rise be right . the government want more people to use public transport but just seem to make a right mess of trying to get people to use it . surley more people would use it if it were cheaper ?
