A "dummy" engine in scale models is usually a diesel. I don't think I have ever seen a "dummy" steam engine.

Anyway, google Rivarossi Trains, and presto! All ya need to know.

I'm not sure exactly which model you have, but several years ago a US company named "Northwest Short Line" offered kits to motorize several of the Rivarossi models. Unfortunately, I believe they have discontinued these specific kits. However, many of the component parts, such as wheels, gears, and motors, are still available from them as separate items. Their catalog may be found at http://www.nwsl.com/. It might also still be possible to find one of the kits available on eBay. Good Luck!
