You don't say whether you want maps of current services or old maps. When I've wanted to look into North American railroads, I've found that typing the name of the State or City + the word 'railroad 'into any half decent search engine brings up loads of pages with all kinds of information. Add the word 'map' and that should give you what you want.

all your words are ideal, different than for one that is frequently spelt, 'bogie'. Others you may come for the time of (in no specific order): British = American dozing compartment = roomette chimney = smokestack precise velocity, finished velocity = highball signaller = dispatcher sign container = interlocking tower branch line = short line forestry branch = logging line regulator = throttle breakdown crane = wrecking crane banking engine = helper cowcatcher = pilot taper boiler = wagon precise boiler shunting engine = switcher, backyard goat that's a short decision, there is an entire long record of technical words to do with locos and rolling inventory which I ignored right here for motives of time, area, etc. NB. some words are interchangeable, e.g. uk rail operators are increasingly extra calling their guards 'conductors' even nonetheless 'prepare supervisor' is likewise in trend. specific passenger autos are noted as automobiles, e.g. eating motor vehicle, dozing motor vehicle, because of the fact the 1st examples to run in the united kingdom got here from usa.

We have a national passenger rail system, Amtrak. You should be able to get a PDF of a map there.

Many major cities may also have their own rail systems that cover their region. It really depends upon where you want to go.
