Yeah no problem, the station is called Dublin/Pleasanton. On Owens off Hopyard. You've seen it in the middle of 580 median. Trains run every 15-20 minutes from 5AM to midnight. (they start a little later on weekends.)

You need to buy a ticket in advance, the fare is $4.95 to downtown SF and a little more if you need the Mission district or the west side of SF. Just go straight to the ticket vending machines and put in $5, or $10 if you want to buy the round trip. it works like a gift card, deducting the cost of trips as you ride.

You need to stick the ticket in the fare-gate when you enter the system, and it immediately gives you the ticket back. Take it back! At the end you'll do the same thing to exit.

If you over-shoot your station, just get off the train, cross to the other side and get on a train going the other way. You can ride any train you want, you only pay when you exit.

Coming back, you go to the same station and do the same thing, except - GET THIS - the trains go different places! You have to look at the overhead signs to pick the right train. You want "Dublin/Pleasanton".

P.S. This is also a hassle-free way to get to Oakland Coliseum ($3.20) or SFO. Oakland airport is a shuttle off the Coliseum station. For Giants ballgames too.

When you have arrived at a San Francisco downtown BART ("Bay Area Rapid Transit") station, don't forget to pick up a Muni discount ticket (free!!!) from the machine near to the exit gates. This will give you a 25 cent discount on all Muni fares (except the Cable Cars) for journeys both to and from the station.
Bart buses from the region around Pleasanton connect with the frequent BART trains from Pleasanton direct to San Francisco.

Yes. BART goes in the transbay tube between Oakland and downtown San Francisco.

Check the schedule for the Blue line between Pleasanton and Millbrae/SFO.
