"Restroom" is more than a stretch. It implies, perhaps, sanitary conditions (not the norm, but better than it used to be), or a wash basin for washing hands (there is none - hand cleaner and an up-ended bottle of drinking water is all that's available [funny - all that power and no hot water]), or even presupposing that toilet paper is available.

No. There are no restrooms on locomotives. Merely the bare bones minimum necessary to relieve yourself.

yes most locomotives i have been on have a very small restroom and from what i have seen they are located in the foward end or the nose portion on the newer units you can access this directly from the out side foward rail steps before you enter the cab operating area

Yes all road engines must have a toilet room..The government even requires a lock on the door... they call it a modesty lock...Railroads use two types of toilets...One is actually a small septic system similar to the one you have a home and the other is a simple holding tank with a toilet seat and lid.... there is a trap door that opens when you raise the lid...but don't look down...lol...At one time some roads used a bucket, but I think that has all been fazed out.... Yard engines are not required to have toilets....

Not in steam locomotives. The drivers used to do it on the shovels.
